Here’s what our clients have to say about their experience at Sound of Soul Yoga:
"As a primary care physician, I see a lot of conditions that are the consequences of chronic repetitive physical or mental stress. We are often limited in our treatments as well as the prevention of these conditions. Yoga therapy is a form of treatment that is based on ancient practices. The poses and breath work result in improved circulation thus enhancing the healing process. Connecting breath work with movement resets the nervous system’s response to stress. Ideally, with time and practice, the patient becomes their own healer, and improves their chances of staying well. There are now several well designed studies that have shown the benefits of yoga in treating low back pain, anxiety and improving the quality of life in patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy. Because of my experience with yoga, I am excited that we now have a certified yoga therapist in the area. I am excited that I now have someone that I can refer my patient to, who will benefit from this complementary therapy."
– Maria Blahey, M.D. Board certified in Family Practice and Hospice and Palliative Medicine
“I am so grateful for my multi-talented yoga instructor, Ellen Aldrich. After growing and changing through her precise instruction in public classes, I was so thrilled to find out she was also a yoga therapist. I could hardly wait to sign up for private sessions. Talk about benefits to mind, body, soul and my entire being. We hit the jackpot! Ellen’s patient instruction delivers the highest benefits of each pose; especially tailored to my specific needs. Our practice together began to change and enhance my strength, concentration, and focus all the while my body had more endurance and health. Oh, Wow!
I am now experiencing healthy ageing. Her direction, which is a special gift of hers, put my body, mind and soul into action. My soreness, stiffness, foggy brain, and lethargy were alleviated. Through our practice the soul connection touched my emotional part also. Ellen’s gentle spirit and outstanding gift of active listening are powerful tools to receive. Being an adventurer, she stays fully informed, aware of our environment and what type of practice we need for that moment.”
– Maggie B. Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Enthusiast
“I’m in my mid 60’s. I’m a lifelong couch potato. I have scoliosis with a Harrington rod fused into my spine. I never thought I could do yoga but have always wanted to. Thanks to Ellen and her knowledge, encouragement, and patience I am now practicing yoga! As I age I knew I needed something to help me get stronger and stay more flexible. Yoga is doing that for me.”
– Cynthia
“I have a much more active and productive life thanks to Ellen’s help integrating yoga and mindfulness training into my daily routine. She helped me reduce and cope with my pain with methods that I could use anytime, anywhere. She taught me to be more aware of my body and how I can be kinder to it. She did research and went the extra mile to find ways to help me reduce my pains. She taught me more useful information about my body and my condition than my doctor.”
– Yasmine S., 18
“Working with Ellen has dramatically improved my lifestyle and the way I react to pain. My consumption of painkillers has been significantly reduced. Ellen tailored the lessons to fit my needs and set me on a course for healing my chronic pain.”
– Murphy S., 20
"Ellen is amazing and her classes have literally changed my chronic pain condition, mental health and my life. I now know how to help relieve my painful neck, back and shoulder problems. Whereas before I would curl up in bed. I was very skeptical about yoga. I knew I couldn’t stand up and pull my leg over my head like the crazy pictures you see. That’s not what Ellen’s classes are like. Most of the class we’re sitting or lying on the floor but when standing we are on two feet.
You will be shocked at how greatly your mental health will improve. She accepts all ages but most of her students are in their 50s, 60s, 70s. Ellen offers private classes and is a licensed yoga therapist. Your life will forever be changed with Ellen!"

I’ve taken a weekly yoga class from Ellen since about 2018. Ellen is an excellent teacher. She is educated on yoga best practices, but with her nursing background, she knows so much more about the body and its limits and issues that is so handy when it comes to yoga. Her practices are incredibly accessible, perfect for the person just starting out or for someone who has certain goals they want to achieve through yoga. She will help you achieve them. She is a blessing to our area. Go take her class if you get the opportunity.
